Facebook: Heroes and Celebrity Cults

Facebook:
Heroes and the celebrity cults

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes and from every stretch of land. I think Facebook has been able to actually relate us to those heroes. Everything travels so much faster through today’s technology. Now the person who has cancer is the new hero but tomorrow it may be a man that pulled a car off of someone. It’s amazing to know what we the people can actually face and how our heroes are formed. Just today I heard of a lifeguard who had been fired because he saved someone that was out of his jurisdiction. They then decided to give him the key to the city. Facebook has been a huge contributing factor in helping to get the word out fast. Its social media and everyone reads it. It has become our daily newspaper.
Being a celebrity is not something I would want. Even by knowing a celebrity you can become famous. The paparazzi follow you everywhere and you never get any privacy. Even on Facebook celebrities have to be careful what they say or what pictures they have up because there is always someone out there waiting to exploit them. Take an innocent picture and turn it into something ugly or fictitious. Their moms and dads, brothers and sisters, girlfriends and boyfriends all have to be careful of what they do or say on Facebook. There is just no privacy for these people they are stalked everyday through Facebook and many other sites.

  1. Certainly Mark Zuckerberg, with the movie and then the IPO, has been in the media enough to qualify as cult of celebrity. It amazes me how much money a simple website directory can make.
