MJ King of POP

Popular Culture to me is a way of the generations defining themselves. With each generation has come an Icon of their own. Weather it is a movie like Gone With the Wind or music from Michael Jackson who led music to places people never seen possible it seems to be generational and as the generations move on so do these icons.
This is really important from a business aspect because you want to be able to relate to customers and by knowing at least bits and pieces about their generation and their icons you will have a better understanding of who they are and where they come from.
An example of a pop culture icon to me would be Michael Jackson. He took music to new heights and defined dancing when he did the moon walk. He paved the way for the musicians we have today and opened  racial barriers that were very tough to get through. He made the music industry what it is today.

  1. Tera,
Very good choice. There is no doubt the Michael Jackson was a pop culture icon and he influenced so many different areas. Not only the music industry but also fashions and dance styles. I remember during my middle school years, so many kids just had to have that red jacket and only wear the one glove all the while trying to master the "moonwalk".
He produced some great videos and probably the biggest, in my opinion, was Thriller. So many people just couldn't wait to see that video and it dominated conversations in school.
